Every time some girl decides to go onto one of my fanarts to complain that one of the girls in it looks “too manly,” they always have some sort of ode to Jesus in their signature. I must have missed that part of the Bible that said “Thou shalt not be manly.”

In August of 1990 I found myself laying on my stomach in the woods with a pair of binoculars, a bottle of Canadian Club, and my friend Kurt Cobain. The reason why I had the binoculars was because I was the lookout while he ran across the street to a “teen pregnancy center” that had just opened in our town. It really wasn’t a teen pregnancy center, it was a right-wing con where they got teenage girls to go in there and then told them they were going to go to hell if they had abortions. Since Kurt and I were angry young feminists in the ’90s we decided that we were going to do a little public service that night. We drank our Canadian Club and he watched out while I went across the street and wrote, “Fake abortion clinic, everyone,” because I was kind of like the pragmatic one or whatever. He was more creative so he went over and in six-foot-tall red letters he wrote, “God is gay.” [applause]

Petition to include the LGBTQ category in Tumblr’s directory recommendations

Tumblr is a great place for LGBTQ people, but until recently, we’ve been denied a feature.

Many LGBTQ blogs want to be included in Tumblr’s LGBTQ directory. They email Tumblr asking to be included (since this is the only way), and they don’t get responses. Equalitopia waited months, and after many emails, it was finally added.

You may not want to be in the directory, but others do. All blogs should have a fair chance.

Tumblr’s lead developer says:

“I didn’t want immature people to nominate their non-LGBTQ friends/enemies into it. Didn’t want to cheapen/ruin the category.”

He’s implying that “gay” is an insult, and used as an attack on an enemy.

Tumblr Support says:

“Because of the social implications of this directory, we believe it would be tremendously irresponsible for us to risk a user intentionally or accidently outing another user.”

Reblog if you want LGBTQ blogs to be included in this feature.

Equalitopia will send this post to Tumblr staff once it gets enough reblogs.

It has been seven months since this post was originally made, and Tumblr has done absolutely nothing to address our concerns.

i’ve asked like 10,000 times to be added and they NEVER responded. i can understand being rejected; that’s totally fine by me. but at least have the decency to respond.

I seriously doubt an immature/mean spirited joke would get enough recommendations to push a non LGBTQ blog into the user-recommended category.
